Hi, I’m Sydney - a wanderer at heart. I’ve been moving round the world since I left uni far too many years ago, first alone, later with my three girls, and currently I’m lucky enough to be sailing around the globe on a friends yacht.
Wherever I go I end up answering questions about how I have managed to live with constant movement, how it has been for the kids, along with a myriad of questions about places to go, favourite places, and of course now, about life on a boat.
So this site covers those things, as well as the things that make me want to see more and do more - getting to remote places and getting into the wild side: being in the natural world - hiking and walking, traipsing around to find animals in their natural habitats, ‘wild’ swimming (when did swimming in lakes and rivers become ‘wild?’) and ocean swimming.

My life right now…
As my youngest has left home, I’m now on what to me is an adventure - crewing on a friends yacht as we sail around the world. I had never really stepped foot on a yacht until a year before we left (July 2018) and to add to it, I get incredibly motion sick. I vomited my way across the Indian Ocean despite trying what I thought was every seasick remedy, but finally in Cape Town I got new seasickness pills - and they work!!!!! It was like a miracle. The plan is to complete the circumnavigation crossing the Pacific in 2020.
I've been moving around the world for over 35 years - most of them with my girls in tow. I like to live in a country and explore from there. You can check out where I have been by clicking here.
My favourite pastimes are hiking, watching amazing animals in their wild habitat, and swimming in the ocean, a river or a lake. More than anything, I love to do these things with my girls! Its a strange life without them. You will probably find a lot of posts about animals and finding them in the wild as I keep writing - I cant help myself - and zoos simply don't do it for me!
I have three great kids who have managed to thrive with the constant of change. They have moved around the world with me, going to school and making friends in 10 different countries, and travelling between times in over 30 others. As for all mums - I simply wouldn't be without them. You can read more about moving around with your kids in the blog.
